Mr. Furman Dee Warren, 93, of Fayetteville, NC passed away on Monday, April 6, 2015.
He was born on November 18, 1921 in Sampson County, North Carolina to the late DeVestal and Mary Ethel Spell Warren.
Dee was a member of First Baptist Church, in Fayetteville, and formerly in Laurinburg where he served as deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years. He was a retired insurance manager with Life of Georgia Insurance Co. He was also a Lions Club and Gideonâs International member. He volunteered with Cumberland County Department of Health and numerous other civic organizations.
He was preceded in death by his former wife and mother of his children Geraldine Rose Warren; two grandsons Erick and Patrick DuRant; three brothers Oscar, James, and William Warren; four sisters Geneva Crumpler, Hazel Capps, Elma McLaurin, and Lois Britt; a step-daughter Judith Shields Briggs; and former wife Rosa D. Warren.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Shields Warren, of Fayetteville, NC; two daughters Wanda Rose Loving, and husband Ed, of Fayetteville, GA and Dean Warren DuRant, and husband Rick, of Lancaster, SC; a step-daughter Susan Shields, of Fayetteville, NC; two grandchildren Laura Loving, and husband Peter Duda, of New York City, NY and Matthew Warren Loving, and wife Dana, of Manosque, France; two granddaughters-in-law, Kimberly DuRant Barker, of Lancaster, SC and Westy Rae DuRant, of Marina, CA; four step-grandchildren John Glenn Briggs, III, and wife Mandy, of Fayetteville, NC, Vincent Shields Briggs, and wife Dana, of Wilmington, NC, Amanda Briggs, of Brooklyn, NY, and Susanna Barnwell, and husband Tim, of Colorado Springs, CO; six great-grandchildren Lia, Max, Stella, Zachary, Astin, and Emily; and four step-great grandchildren Hailey, Scarlett, Zelda, and Vincent IV; a sister Loleta Butler, of Midlothian, VA ; and a brother Alton Warren, and wife Billie, of Thomasville, NC; and many special nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Graveside services will be private.
The family will receive friends On Wednesday, April 8, 2015 from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Fayetteville. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church with the Rev. A. Edward Beddingfield officiating.
