U.S. Air Force Retired Chief Master Sgt. Emmett Theodore Prevatte Jr. , 64, of Fayetteville, passed away, on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, in his residence.
He was born on June 24, 1949, in Cullman, Ala., to the late Emmett Theodore Prevatte Sr., and Beatrice Robertson Prevatte.
He was a Vietnam War veteran and a Persian Gulf War veteran, highly decorated with numerous medals and commendations.
Emmett worked for Loweâs Home Improvements in Virginia and currently in Fayetteville, for many years.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mona Gaye Prevatte.
He was survived bya daughter, Stephanie Prevatte Holder, and husband, Wilmer, of Newton, Ala.; four grandchildren Hannah Powell, and husband, U.S. Army Sgt. Lance Powell, Kendall Herman, Tanner Holder, and Mallory Holder; two great-grandchildren, Colton Bagwell and Easton Powell; two sisters, Patricia Weaver, of Corinth, Miss., and Vicki Prevatte, and her husband, Marshall Lichtenstein, of Atlanta, Ga.; a nephew, Brett Weaver; three nieces, Lisa Prevatte Hadde, Michelle Weaver and Ruthie Lichtenstein; and his friend, Helen Desilets, of Raleigh.
The family will receive friends Sunday, May 18, 2014, at Sullivanâs Highland Funeral Service & Crematory from 2:45 to 3:45p.m. A funeral service will follow at 4p.m. in Sullivanâs Highland Funeral Service & Crematory with the Rev. Archie Barringer, officiating, followed by a military presentation.
