Mr. Carol Victor "Pete" Sanders
Mr. Carol Victor “Pete†Sanders, 85, of Eastover, NC passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on February 19, 1929 in Richlands, NC, to the late Samuel Dolphus Sanders and Thelma Jones Sanders.
Pete was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. Also, he was also a 32nd Degree Mason of Richlands Masonic Lodge #564 where he was Past Master. He was a member of the Hope Mills Shrine Club and the Sudan Shrine Temple in New Bern, NC.
He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Huffman Sanders. Pete married the love of his life in Smithfield, NC, while playing catcher during a professional baseball game in the 7th inning for the Smithfield Leafs. Also, he was preceded in death by one sister Dorothy Smith and two brothers Eldon Sanders and Morris Sanders.
He is survived by one daughter Helen Sanders Crumpler, and husband Stan, of Eastover, NC; two sons Charles Victor “Vic†Sanders, and wife Cindy, of Eastover, NC, and Steve Sanders, Eastover, NC; four grandchildren Chris Crumpler, and wife Jennifer, Adam Sanders, Samantha “Lucy†Sanders Smith, Rhonda West, and Shannon Sanders; and great-grandchildren Madison, Matthew, Courtney, Lucas, and Emma.
A Graveside service will be held on Thursday. July 17, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery, in Eastover, NC with the Rev. David Beck and Rev. Belinda Ivey officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the dining hall at the church.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Salem United Methodist Church 2165 Middle Road, Eastover, NC 28312
