Bill Jones Robinson, 88, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, July 3, 2015.

Bill was born on September 30, 1926 in North Wilkesboro, NC.

He attended UNC-Chapel Hill where he was a member of the marching band during part of his time there.  He remained an avid and loyal Tar Heel supporter throughout his life.

After leaving college, he entered the banking profession as a vice president in charge of loans, a position he held with several banks.  He later worked in the dry cleaning business.  He served a term as president of the Fayetteville Civitan Club.  Mr. Robinson was a Shriner and a 60 year member of the Creasy Protor Masonic Lodge.

Bill was a loyal member of the Highland Presbyterian Church serving as an elder and an enthusiastic participant of the John M. Wilson Sunday School class.  Together with his wife, he sponsored and participated in a bi-weekly bridge group at the church.

Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his parents, B.J. Robinson and Jane McLean Robinson and his son, Mark Brown Robinson. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jean Underwood Robinson; son, John Robinson and his wife Betsy of Durham, NC; daughter, Kathryn Powell and her husband, Scot of Asheville, NC and five grandchildren; Sarah, Emma, Lauren, Nicole and Mark.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Highland Church Building Fund of the church music program.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Monday, July 6, 2015 at Highland Presbyterian Church.  

A reception will be held after the memorial service in the Fellowship Hall.

Services are entrusted to Sullivan's Highland Funeral Service & Crematory.
