Mr. Alfred Tennyson Williams, 91, of Wade, NC, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at his residence.
He was born on April 6, 1923 in Cumberland Co., NC.
He was a Veteran of WWII, serviced on the USS Yorktown at Midway and USS West Virginia. He retired from the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC. He was also a member of Salem United Methodist Church. They operated Poverty Flats Nursery for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Leona Jane Bain Williams, and Ander A. Williams; wife Inza Melvin Williams; siblings Isabella Williams, Marcus F. Williams, Bessie W. Wolff, Council W. Williams, Ethel W. Propes, George A. Williams; and one grandson Jacob A. Williams.
He is survived by his children Ruth W. Jones, of Wade, NC, Frances Williams, of Wilmington, NC, Harvey DeForest Williams, of Wade, NC, Joan W. Smith, and husband David, of Smithfield, NC, and Michael D. Williams, and wife Mary, of Fayetteville, NC; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 9, 2014 in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery, in Eastover.
