Mr. Alfred M. Campbell, 89, of Fayetteville, died on Saturday, August 16, 2014, in the comfort of his home with his loving family at his side.

He was born in Amherst County, Virginia on August 9, 1925 to Homer and Ruth Campbell.

Al, a graduate of Duke University, proudly served as Minister to several congregations in Virginia and North Carolina.  He retired as the Adult Services Program Director at the Cumberland County Mental Health Center.  His hobbies included the joy of reading and gardening.

He is survived by his wife; Ava P. Campbell, of Fayetteville, sons; Tim Campbell, and wife, Sarah, of Wilmington, NC, Carl Campbell, of Morrisville, NC, brother; Deroy C. Campbell, and wife, Ann, of Rocky Mount, VA, Grandchildren; Brian Crowell, and wife Meg, of Greenville, NC, Amy Baker, and husband, Jamie, of Buies Creek, NC, Alicia Morris, and husband, Adam, of Fayetteville, NC, and Jacob Smith, and Deidre Markham, of Fayetteville, NC, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Rev. Dr. David Nikkel will officiate the memorial service at Eutaw United Church of Christ at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 23, 2014.  A visitation will immediately follow the service at the church.

The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eutaw United Church of Christ Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 35485, Fayetteville, NC  28303.
