U.S. Army Ret. SFC Michael Lee Jackson, 65, of Fayetteville, NC passed away on Friday, February 22, 2013, at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on June 13, 1947, in Pendleton, OR to the late Kenneth C. Jackson and Ollis Watson Jackson.
He served his country with over 22 years of honorable service in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, Persian Gulf War, and the Panama Conflict. He was the recipient of two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star for heroism.
He is survived by his wife Linda Hampton, of the home; four sons Michael Lee Jackson, II, and wife Jennifer, of Fayetteville, NC, Daniel Shane Wall, and wife Wendy, of Colorado Springs, CO, Ryan Fausey, and wife Krista, of Aberdeen, NC, and Ben Fausey, and wife Desiree, of Raeford, NC; two brothers Kenneth E. Jackson, and wife Doris, of Phoenix, AZ, and Bill Jackson, and wife Karen Sue, of Chicago, IL; six grandsons Mason, Tyler, Logan, Ethan, Danny and Joshua; and one granddaughter Alexis.
A private family memorial service will be on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 in Sullivan's Highland Funeral Service with Rev. Toni Evans officiating with the rendering of full military honors.
