Michael Coley Huss, 43, of Wilmington, went to his heavenly home Monday, December 7, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.
Michael was born in Cumberland County, NC on June 26, 1977 to Gary Steve and Deborah Ann Coley Huss of Hope Mills, NC.
He was a graduate of NC State University and dedicated and valuable district manager with Bed Bath & Beyond. Michael was a tenacious worker who visualized an entire project before he lifted a hand. He always found a way to connect with each of his managers and build a personal relationship with them that was genuine. He knew everyone as a person, not just an employee. Michael found a way to bring humor and sarcasm to the workplace while still being a professional and exceptional leader that managed through difficult changes in his company, not by blindly following compliance, but by focusing on what he knew was right for the company and becoming the best at that. It was Michael’s drive to be the best at everything he did, that made him the best boss, the best friend, and the best role model for so many that he touched in his professional career.
Michael enjoyed being with family the most. He loved to cook for others, watch football in his recliner, and get in a round of golf with college friends whenever he got the chance to step away from work. One of his proudest moments is when he became a daddy. Coley was Michael’s world and you could always tell that by his time spent on the soccer fields attending practices or games and at the barn watching her ride horses. He attended Harbor United Methodist Church in Wilmington.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving and faithful wife, Renelle Heye Huss; his precious daughter, Coley Huss; his brother, David Huss of Fayetteville; his maternal grandmother, Sue Coley of North Myrtle Beach; his mother-in-law, Kathe Heye of Raeford and a host of other relatives and friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Robert Heye; his brother-in-law, Brian Heye and his grandparents, Jack Hansel Coley, Coley J. Huss "Tump" and Lois Mauney Huss.
A service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Sullivan's Highland Funeral Service and Crematory in Fayetteville. The family will greet friends following the service. Those attending are ask to wear a mask.
Services entrusted to the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
