Maxine Dees Smith, a life-long resident of Cumberland County, North Carolina, was received into the welcoming arms of her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, March 26,2021, from her home in Fayetteville.
She was the daughter of the late Charles Gentry and Tishie Wallace Dees.
Maxine was predeceased by her beloved husband Paul Wallace smith. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Smith Sheppard of Wilmington, NC; and siblings Glenn Dees, Robert Dees, Charles Dees, Edith Pridgen and Ida Jean Parker. Remaining to cherish their loving memories of Maxine are her daughter Kimberly Smith Wehinger (Edwin) of Wilmington, NC; sisters Hilda Melton, and Carleen Jackson of Fayetteville; grandchildren Callie Bradberry Kelly, Edward Paul Wehinger, and Birch Lee Sheppard of Wilmington, NC; Five great grandchildren; Maxwell, Vause, Brielle, Natalee, and Landon, all of Wilmington, NC.
Maxine was a devout Christian, who shared her strong faith and love for Jesus daily. She was an active member in the choir, prayer group, bible studies, painting, artwork, golf, fishing, enjoyed trips to the Beach and being with her family and friends. She was a dedicated member of Christ Methodist Church until its closing, at which time she transferred membership to Haymount Methodist Church.
