Margaret Tuttle Smith

Mrs. Margaret Tuttle Smith, 96, of Fayetteville, formerly of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Carolina Inn, where she resided for the past three years.

Margaret was born in Walnut Cove, NC, and came to Fayetteville with her husband, Wilbur, in 1952, where they opened their first wholesale plumbing supply store, W.L. Smith Supply Co.  They lived in Fayetteville until business took them to Memphis, TN, and later retired to Wilmington, NC.  She was known as "Nana" by her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She took great pride in decorating her home, cooking, and taking care of her family.  Her Sundays were filled with family gatherings at their beautiful home at Windsor Farms in Linden.  Wherever Margaret lived, she was a faithful member of her local churches and the best hostess to her friends and family.  She graduated from Carolina Bible College in Fayetteville and she loved to share her biblical knowledge.  Her life was a testament to her faith.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at 12 noon at Highland Presbyterian Church Chapel, 111 Highland Avenue, Fayetteville, NC 28305.  Dr. Scott Cameron, her oldest grandchild, will be presiding.

She is survived by her children, Janet Smith Cameron and husband, Scott, of Fayetteville, Judy Smith Gregg and husband, David, of Wilmington, and Jeffrey Smith and wife, Jeannie, of Wrightsville Beach; 8 grandchildren, Scottie Cameron, Mandy Barnes, Clifton Cameron, Merry Hanna Hass, Jordan McCorkle, Smith Gregg, Jason Smith, and Meredith Whitfield; and 22 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Latham Smith, and son, Jerry Latham Smith.
