Lloyd Clifford Brisson, Sr., 93, of Fayetteville, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Lloyd was born in Fayetteville, on October 20, 1925, to the late John and Ella Brisson. Also preceding him in death are his wife, Doris Clark Brisson; son, Charles Clark Brisson; and great grandson, Abel Brisson.
Left to cherish Lloyd’s memory are his son, Cliff Brisson, Jr. and wife Toni of Fayetteville; grandson, John Brisson and wife Tiffany of Hope Mills; great grandchildren, Holden and Amelia Brisson of Hope Mills; sister, Marzelle Brown of Charlotte; and nephew, Steve Brown of Charlotte.
Born and raised in Fayetteville, he was a graduate of Fayetteville High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy during WWII where he served aboard a ship that was torpedoed by a German U-Boat. After his discharge, and upon returning home, and deciding what to do with his life, he was encouraged to attend pharmacy school by Dr. David McKethan, for whom he had worked at McKethan Drugs. He enrolled at the UNC School of Pharmacy and was graduated from there in 1950. Upon obtaining his Pharmacy License he helped set up and open the pharmacy at the new Cape Fear Valley Hospital. He thereafter worked at several Fayetteville pharmacies over the years to include, Matthew’s Drugs, Bender’s Drug Store, McKethan Drugs with his friend, Ham Underwood, Kmart Pharmacy, Eckerd Drugs, and retired with Revco Drug Store.
He was a longtime member of Highland Presbyterian Church where he and his family worshiped their savior Jesus Christ and enjoyed the fellowship of friends and acquaintances. He especially enjoyed attending the John M. Wilson Sunday School Class; and when his health kept him from attending, the members of the class were faithful in visiting him at home and Haymount Rehabilitation Center.
The family would like to thank the many caring professionals and staff at Cape Fear Valley Hospital, Cape Fear Valley Hospice Care, and Haymount Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for their excellent care and compassion during his last weeks and days of life.
He was a kind and friendly Southern gentleman who loved his family and will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers donations and gifts may be made to Highland Presbyterian Church, 111 Highland Avenue, Fayetteville, NC 28305.
A funeral service is planned for noon on Friday, December 7, 2018, at Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service, officiated by Rev. Chip Stapleton. The family will receive friends from 11am to 12pm, prior to the service. Burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park.
