Retired Army 1st Sgt. Liborio Luis Picart-Curet, 91, of 1050 Brenda Drive, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. A funeral Mass will be held Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. in Main Post Chapel on Fort Bragg. Burial in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake with military honors. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Main Post Chapel. Mr. Picart-Curet served in various Army units, including the 82nd Airborne from 1943 to 1971. He was an Army veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He received two Army Commendation Medals; Good Conduct Medal with seven bars; World War II American Campaign; World War II Victory Medal, Raptured Duck; World War Il Honorable Discharge; National Defense with two bars; Vietnam Service; and Vietnam Campaign. He was a proud veteran, who served his country for 23 years. Mr. Picart-Curet was a proud husband, father of six children; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He also served his community for 14 years as a teacher, assistant principal and principal; and he earned a superintendent certificate. Mr. Picart-Curet is survived by his wife, Gloria Maria Picart-Curet of Fayetteville; sons, retired Col. Jose Picart of Cary, Angel Picart of Fayetteville, Amilcar Picart of Fayetteville, Erdie Picart of Fayetteville, and Hector Picart of Fayetteville; daughter, Nilsa DelSantos of Fayetteville; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
