Kayla Joy Nord, born January 19, 2004, passed away on July 2, 2024, in Fayetteville, NC. Kayla was born at Womack Army Medical Center in Fort Bragg, North Carolina to Sattin Ramos (mother) and Kevin M Nord (father). Kayla grew up in Fayetteville, North Carolina and grew up spending many summers visiting her father, a soldier in Hawaii and family in South Euclid, Ohio and West Valley City, Utah.
Kayla graduated Cum Laude from Cumberland International Early College in May of 2022. After completing high school, Kayla began taking college classes at Fayetteville Technical Community College in Fayetteville, North Carolina where she studied to be a kindergarten teacher.
Shortly after, Kayla met Matthew Gravius in May of 2023. The two were married on August 9, 2023.
Kayla was a gifted artist; she would spend many days painting on small canvas tiles scenic pictures. Kayla also painted and created pottery she would often make and give as gifts to those who were close to her. Kayla was also a gifted singer with a beautiful voice. While at Reid Ross Classical School Kayla participated in the Cumberland County choir and later in life in various talent shows. To those who were close to Kayla she was known as a beautiful young woman with a huge heart for those around her especially those around her hurting. Kayla has a strong passion for theater, especially musicals; one of her favorite things to do was watch musicals over and over and sing the songs she would quickly memorize. Kayla loved ice cream frequently, cleaning out both parents’ refrigerators of all their ice cream or coercing friends and family to take her to Cook Out on Ramsey Street for a chocolate banana or banana berry shake. Other things that Kayla loved were Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, her vans, her crocs which she always seemed to trash very quickly, skateboarding, practical jokes (especially with her siblings and mother), going on adventures, her animals, and mostly Kayla loved helping those around her in any way she could.
She is survived by her husband Matthew Gravius; mother, Sattin Ramos; father, Kevin Nord; stepfather, Michael Ramos; stepmother, Sarah Nord; sisters, Michaela Ramos and Alyssa Ramos; brother, Daniel Ramos; grandparents, Terry and Carl Nord, Joydean and Daniel Roach, and Michael McNeil.
