Julia Faye Owens Ramsey Julia O. Ramsey passed away early Monday morning, November 6, 2017, at Novant Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was 89 years old.

She was born in Pavo, Georgia to William Nelson Owens and Frances America Holloway.

She met the love of her life, David Ramsey, in Youth Fellowship. They married on November 2, 1944 and David predeceased her in September 2010.

In 1988 she retired from the John F. Kennedy Center for Special Warfare where she worked closely with our valiant servicemen and women stationed at Ft. Bragg.

During Julia’s years working at the Ft. Bragg library as a research librarian, she pursed and completed her Bachelor’s degree. Having an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, Julia continued her education and obtained her Masters and her Ph.D. in Adult and Community College Education.

Julia was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church, in Fayetteville, North Carolina and the Emma Lee Howie Sunday School class. She was active in the church serving in several leadership positions including Moderator of the Presbyterian Women, Circle Chairman and Bible Moderator. Julia received the Honorary Life Membership Award.

Julia moved to Aldersgate Retirement Community in 2013, where she met many wonderful people that enriched her life. Everyone at Aldersgate, residents and staff alike, will truly miss her.

Julia is survived by her sons David (Charlotte), William (Bridget), Keith (Lisa), six grandchildren Ken (Emily), Julia (Jeff), Michael (John), Charlotte (Blake), Katie and Cameron, and three great-grandchildren.

Services commemorating her life will be held in Charlotte and Fayetteville. The Charlotte service will be at Aldersgate Retirement Community, 2:00 PM Saturday, November 11th. The Fayetteville service will be at Highland Presbyterian Church, 2:00 PM Saturday, November 25th. The family will greet friends after the service in the fellowship hall of the Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Highland Presbyterian Church, Fayetteville, NC.

Arrangements are in the care of Sullivan’s Funeral Services in Fayetteville, NC.
