Joseph B. Pigliacampo, 77, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 1, 2025. He was born in a small town on Italy’s Adriatic coast. Preceding him in death were his parents and sister MaryAnn.
Joe spent his early years in a farmhouse with a dirt floor before his family immigrated to the United States when he was 14 years old. He became a U.S. citizen during high school and worked at GoodYear Aerospace following graduation. Joining the military, he served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
His career began in machine shops, but it was while working in window and door manufacturing plants that he grew increasingly frustrated with the inefficiencies of the manufacturing processes. Driven by the desire to find a better way, he struck out on his own, designing and building specialized equipment that streamlined production. What started out as a personal mission turned into a thriving business in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania. Joe was immensely proud that Joseph Machine Company, Inc. revolutionized the fenestration industry. Four decades later, the company he founded continues to supply all U.S. major window and door manufacturers and employs 120 people.
Outside of work, Joe was an avid car and motorcycle enthusiast, crisscrossing the country on two wheels whenever he could. A lifelong Cleveland Browns fan, he loved his NFL and ACC games. He was known to all his family and friends for his gregarious, generous personality and boundless enthusiasm for life. Joe brought an energy and joy to everyone he met and could regale stories like no other. He was immensely proud of his children’s accomplishments and would tell anyone who would lend an ear. His unabashed never ending quest for a good meal was contagious!
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Aleta Wiggs and daughter Amy Pigliacampo (Corey) and son Anthony Pigliacampo (Natalie), sister Giovanna Donatelli (Vittorio) and four grandchildren.
