John Franklin Davis, Jr.

John Franklin, Davis, Jr., 82, of Fayetteville, NC passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at the North Carolina State Veterans Nursing Home, in Fayetteville. Mr. Davis was born on December 8, 1930 in Bladen County, NC. He was the son of the late John Franklin Davis, Sr. and Onita Berry Davis.
Mr. Davis was a Korean War veteran. He was self-employed as a registered land surveyor for more than 50 years. He served several terms as chairman of the Cumberland County Joint Planning Board.  He was also former Commodore of the Hatteras Marlin Club for many years.  John was a faithful member of Haymont United Methodist Church where he served on the Board of Trustees.  John was a devoted family man who was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  John enjoyed life especially hunting and fishing.  
He is survived by his wife, Katherine “Kitty” Owen Davis, of the home; a daughter, Nancy Karaman and husband Michael of Fayetteville, NC; two sons, Rick Davis and wife Melissa of Fayetteville, NC and Pat Davis and wife Kathy of Mooresville, NC.; five grandchildren Rick Davis, Jr., and his wife Cindy, Brett Davis, Noah Davis, Rachel Karaman, and Elise Karaman and two great-grandchildren Troy Davis and Jacob Davis; one brother Carlisle Davis, and wife Florida, of Forest, VA.  
The family will receive friends at Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service on  Saturday, April 27, 2013,  from 5:00 p.m.to 6:00 p.m..  Funeral services will be conducted at Haymont United Methodist Church on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dennis Goodwin, and Dr. Brian Gentle officiating. Interment will follow at Camp Ground United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the rendering of military honors.  
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Haymont United Methodist Church 1700 Fort Bragg Road, Fayetteville, NC 28303.
