Jimmy Richard Phillips, 72, of Fayetteville, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2019, at his home in the presence of his loving family.
Jimmy was born in Lumberton on September 24, 1946. He proudly served in the Army with a Special Forces unit during the Vietnam War. After his time in the Army he built a career as a General Contractor and worked as a General Manager for several insulation companies. He spent his retirement years farming which was his passion. Jimmy was a faithful and dedicated member of Tabor United Methodist Church. He was a loving husband and dedicated father who will be greatly missed.
Preceding Jimmy in death was his wife, Luana; parents, Richard “Junior” and Elsie Mae Wilson Phillips; sisters, Faye Anders, Lillian Calahan; and brothers, Elmer Phillips and Jackie Phillips.
Jimmy is survived by his son, Rick Phillips of Fayetteville; sisters, Katie Britt and husband Lacy of Lumberton, Sarah Yeager and husband Gary; and brother, Frankie Phillips and wife Jean of Lumberton.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11am on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Tabor United Methodist Church.
