Warren was born November 24, 1927, to the late Jesse Warren Hedgpeth and Willie Leggett Hedgpeth.
Warren is preceded in death by the love of his life of 66 years, Georgia Weeks Hedgpeth, his beloved son, Daniel, and brothers, Charles and Crawford Hedgpeth.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Vickie; grandsons, Joshua and Nathan Hedgpeth (Tiffany); great grandchildren, Autumn, Payton, Gryphon, John and Matthew; nieces, Gretchen Zollinger (Richard and son Carlo), Martha Smith (Joseph Meyer) and Mary Prather (Jim) and nephews, James Smith (Pamela) and Darrell Smith (Linda).
Warren was a graduate of Fayetteville Senior High School and an Army veteran of the Korean War. Following his military service, Warren was employed by and retired from the Railway System after 25 years.
Warren's love of meeting people and striking up conversations led him to spend several post-retirement years working at the nearby Eutaw Shopping Center Cafeteria and Southern Gin & Grain Company. Always at the ready to offer help and impart knowledge, share a two-liner joke, or talk in his Donald Duck voice, Warren kept his family and friends laughing and kids giggling.
Warren will be dearly missed by his family, his many longtime church friends and all who knew and loved him. Great comfort is felt knowing his faith and service to the Lord Jesus Christ has gently guided his soul to heaven to be with his beloved wife, Georgia and son, Danny.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the meals, visits and support from their Hay Street United Methodist Church family, the continued care from the Home Instead staff, and the steadfast care and loving devotion of dear friends and neighbors over the past several years.
Warren was a lifelong member of Hay Street United Methodist Church, therefore, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hay Street United Methodist Church, 320 Hay Street, Fayetteville NC 28301.
A memorial service for Warren is planned for Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 1 pm at Hay Street United Methodist Church.
