Jacqueline June Brown, 88, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at her home.
Jacqueline was born May 21, 1935, in Rome, NY, to the late Harry and Emma June. She was a dedicated mother of five who met life’s many challenges and was always a good provider, a host of wonderful holidays with family and friends, and always there with love and a Band-Aid for cuts and bruises.
Jacqueline worked as a medical records clerk for Cumberland County Office of Mental Health. She was a member of the Episcopal Church and attended St. Paul's in-the-Pines.
Over the years she volunteered with various Republican women's clubs and other civic organizations, including the Rome Voluntary Action Committee in Rome NY, the Historical Center of Fayetteville in the Archives on the Emancipation and Reconstruction, and with the Dogwood Festival office. While still living and working in New York state, Jacqueline was a liaison for Congressman Donald J. Mitchell for many years at his Rome, NY office and then she later worked for his successor, Congressman Sherwood L. Boehlert, at his Utica, NY office.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Richard D. Brown and Jeffrey W. Brown, and sister, Geraldine Fisher.
Jacqueline is survived by her sisters, Sandra J. Morretti and Penelope Fleming; her daughter, Kimberly A. Venturo; two sons, Scott R. Brown and Matthew P. Brown; daughter-in-law, Janine Brown; three grandchildren, Lazarus Brown, Zoë Brown, and Noël Brown; nieces, Lori Fleming Cranfill and Robin Goss; and nephews, Randy Fleming and David Goss.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 22, 2023, from 1 to 2 pm at St. Paul’s in-the-Pines Episcopal Church. The service will follow immediately at 2 pm at the church with Father John Frazier officiating.
Jacqueline’s family would like to thank all the friends, the Bayada Hospice staff, Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, and all the others who supported our family during this time.
