Howard Clayton Perkins, Jr., 76, of Fayetteville, NC, passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at his home.
Howard was born on April 16, 1942, in Greenville, SC to the late Clayton Howard Perkins and Barthemia Beatrice Chapman Perkins.
Mr. Perkins was a retired Art and English teacher with Cumberland County School Systems with over 27 years of service. After retirement he worked for a few years at the former Software City in Westwood Shopping Center. Howard loved the show “Firefly” and was disappointed when it was cancelled. He continued in his own words to write episodes after its cancellation even though he never submitted them.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years Lynn Perkins, of the home; his brother-in-law Tom McCall and wife Sheila, of Morganton, NC; a niece Debra Haney and husband Dean, of Houston, TX; and a host of extended family and friends.
A celebration of life service for family and friends will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service Chapel with Dr. Tryon Lancaster officiating . He will be laid to rest in the Old Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, between Canton and Clyde, NC.
In lieu of flowers Howard’s family wants memorial contributions made to The American Heart Association or The American Diabetic Association.
