Gerald Dean Bishop

Gerald Dean Bishop, 78, of Fayetteville, NC passed away on Monday, May 07, 2018.

He was born on November 2, 1939 in Fayetteville, NC to the late Elbert Bishop and Willie Irene Bass Bishop.

Gerald was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.  He was the owner and operator of Bishop’s Auto Wrecking a family owned business since 1916.  Gerald had a special way of making everyone feel like he was their friend.  His nicknames and wisecracks put a smile on everyone's face.  He gave unconditionally to those he knew and complete strangers.  He truly had a givers heart who wore plaid shirts and overalls. 

He is survived by three daughters Jill Soles, and husband David, of Fayetteville, NC, Star Summers, of Raleigh, NC, and Casey Etheridge, and husband David, of Broadway, NC; one son Michael Matthews, and wife Melissa of Apex, NC; two sisters Sue Sturcken, of Fayetteville, NC and Eva Yarborough, of Fayetteville, NC; one brother John Bishop, of Garland, NC; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friend’s on Saturday, May 12, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at Praise Fellowship Church of God. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Richard Williford officiating. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park.
