GEORGIA E. COGSWELL DAVIS
Georgia (Eades) Cogswell Davis was born in Lakeland; Fl. July 3,1922, one of four children of Frank and Georgia Eades. At an early age the family moved to Tampa where she graduated from Plant High School and was a member of First Baptist Church. She was married to Dr. Robert C. Cogswell June 20, 1943 who started a dental practice in Tampa after his discharge from the Army Air Force in 1946. Georgia served as his dental assistant for many years.
She was a certified member of the American Dental Assistants Association during which time she served as President of the Florida State association. The Lady was later employed as Dental Assistant at Tampa Public Health Clinic, also at MacDill AFB, Fl. Dental Clinic until she was retired in 1994. She had been very active in Tampa civic organizations and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority where she was recognized as both Lambda Master Chapter and Tampa City Woman of the Year for 1992-93
Georgia became a widow in early 1993 and was then married to Robert A.. Davis, Lt. Col. USAF retired, on her birthday July 3 1994. The couple made their home in Odessa, Fl. where she was active in American Legion Auxiliary, Egypt Shrine Legion of Honor Unit Legionettes, National Sojourner Ladies and Keystone United Methodist Church.
As world travelers, they visited the Arctic, Antarctic, many European countries, Galapagos Islands, New Zealand, Australia, Hawaii, Alaska, Central/ South America, Canada and Russia.
During 2011, as her health was failing, they relocated to Fayetteville in order to have the support of families living there. Haymount United Methodist Church became their church home.
Georgia is survived by her son, Robert C Cogswell, Jr., his wife Joy, granddaughter Katheryne and great-granddaughter, Paige.
She is also survived by her husband Lt. Col. Robert Davis, his adult children, daughter Linda Cooper, Fayetteville, son Russel Davis, Severn, Md.,and daughter Robin Oerman, Victorville, Ca.,seven grand children, seven great-grand children and two great- great- grand daughters.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 3, 201l, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church. Visitation will proceed the service in the Gathering Hall.
