George M. Hall, III

George McKinley Hall III, 58, of Fayetteville, passed away on February 13, 2024.

George was born on January 29, 1966, to the late George and Karon Hall. He was also preceded in death by his daughter Sheryl D. Evans.

George was a devoted and loving Husband and Father, who was passionate about serving his community.

As well as being a member of the Cumberland County Rescue Squad while still in High School, George also served as a Cumberland County 911 dispatcher, and a Firefighter at both Lafayette Village and Cumberland Road fire departments. Despite an injury that made him unable to continue to pursue a career in the fire services for ten years, George was able to rehabilitate and go on to become a Deputy Sheriff with Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, where he served for nearly 20 years. Following his retirement, he continued to serve his community as the Director of School Safety and Security, with the Cumberland County Public School System, where he put the safety of Students and Staff above all else. During his career, he had the opportunity to pass on knowledge to many in the Law Enforcement community through his passion of training and teaching.

Left to cherish George’s memory is his wife of 39 years, Janice Hall; daughter, Sheena D. Craver (Chris); brother-in-law, William Carroll; 4 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.
