Retired US Army MSG George L. Cagle, 92, of Fayetteville, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.

George was born in Chickamauga, Georgia, to the late Earl A Cagle, Sr. and Iva Caldwell Cagle Clancy. He served in the US Army for 21 years before retiring. During his time, he served in both the Korean (two combat jumps) and Vietnam Wars and was a member of Special Forces / Green Beret. Following the military, George worked with the US Postal Service before retiring again after 20 more years. George was a Mason and a Shriner.

George is survived by his wife, Betty N. Cagle; son, Gregory Cagle and wife Brenda, of Stokes, NC; three grandchildren, Brandon, Ashton, and Christopher; seven great grandchildren, Madison, Ezra, Brantley and Emory, Chloe, Grayson, and Liam; and sister, Freda Pfister of Chickamauga, GA.

He was preceded in death by two great grandchildren, Finley and Luca, and a brother, Earl A. Cagle, Jr.

A graveside service will be held at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, 8220 Bragg Blvd, Ft. Liberty, NC, on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at noon with military honors.
