Eunice Katherine Trogdon Williams Hill, daughter of the late Edmund Daniel and Laler Barfield Trogdon, died Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at the age of 93.
A native of Cumberland County, Eunice was a 1943 graduate of Gray’s Creek High School, a 1947 graduate of Highsmith Hospital School of Nursing, and a beloved registered nurse and nursing supervisor at Highsmith Hospital for 40 years. Eunice was a lifelong member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Fayetteville, NC where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and served on the Pulpit and Ordinance Committees. Eunice also served as the New South River Baptist Association summer youth camp nurse for many years. An avid gardener, Eunice was a longtime member of the Clairway Garden Club.
Eunice is preceded in death by her first husband, Howard Daniel Williams, Sr., second husband, C.D. “Jeff” Hill, five sisters, Ethel Williams, Edna Moody, Frances Wright, Gladys Spears, and Pat Whitney, and four brothers, Edmund Trogdon, Jr., Bill Trogdon, John Trogdon, and Tom Trogdon.
She is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Tatum of Fayetteville, NC and Barbara Rollins of Clarksville, TN, four children, Kathy Williams of Matthews, NC, Danny Williams (Karen) of Fayetteville, NC, Sara Trexler (Terry) of Raleigh, NC, and Connie Owensby (Paul) of Fayetteville, NC, six grandchildren, Laura Treco of Charlotte, NC, Daniel Williams of Wake Forest, NC, Amy Powell of Southport, NC, Matthew Trexler of Albany, OR, Andrew Trexler of Raleigh, NC, and William Owensby III of Fayetteville, NC, and four greatgrandchildren, Michael Rinaldi, Marc Rinaldi, and Matthew Rinaldi of Charlotte, NC, and Annalise Powell of Southport, NC, and many extended family members.
The family will receive friends at Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service Thursday, March 22, from 5 to 7 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 23 at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Fayetteville, NC at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park.
