Elizabeth "Lib" McIntosh

Mrs. Elizabeth “Lib” McIntosh, of Fayetteville, went to her heavenly home to be with her beloved husband of 48 years, Henry L. McIntosh Jr., on  Saturday, June 29, 2013.

She was born April 24, 1927, and worked as a buyer for the Capitol Department Store in downtown Fayetteville until her marriage in 1955. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Bessie Young, Nellie Matthews, Eunice Leonard and Christine Shaw.

She is survived by daughters Melissa McRae of Hamlet and Susan Newman of Cary, and a son, Henry McIntosh III of Chapel Hill; grandchildren, Allison Allred of Albemarle, Andrew McRae of Hamlet, Katie McRae of Chapel Hill  and Caris McIntosh of Chapel Hill; a great-grandchild, Caden McRae of Hamlet; and a brother, John Matthews Jr. of Piedmont, S.C.

She was an active member of Highland Presbyterian Church and was awarded an honorary life membership to the Emma Lee Howie Sunday school class in 1998. She served on the Session and volunteered in all areas of the church. She especially loved the time she spent volunteering every Wednesday to help with the bulletins.

A private graveside service will be held at Lafayette Memorial Park.  

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 1, 2013, at Highland Presbyterian Church, with Dr. J. Ernest Johnson officiating.

Following the service, the family will receive visitors at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Highland Presbyterian Church Television Ministries.
