Elizabeth "Bette" Hallisey

Mrs. Elizabeth “Bette” Hallisey, 98, of Fayetteville, passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2023.

Bette was born in DuPage County, Illinois, to the late Henry and Florence Nachreiner. 

Bette worked for the American Cancer Society for 20 years and volunteered with the American Red Cross at Womack Army Hospital at Ft. Bragg.  Above all else, she was a devoted wife, a strong-willed mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 75 years, Robert Eugene Hallisey; her six siblings, Herbert Nachreiner, Richard Nachreiner, Robert Nachreiner, Ralph Nachreiner, Evelyn Nachreiner Brewer, and Ruth Nachreiner Knippen; and son-in-law, Jim Shuffield.

Left to cherish her memory are her eight children, Barbara Kendall and husband Jentry of Denver, Co, Patricia Palmer and husband Darwin of Grantville, GA, Robert Hallisey and wife Jan of Knightdale, Jack Hallisey and wife Maryann of Myrtle Beach, SC, Scott Hallisey and wife Lori of Hickory, Laura Shuffield of Fayetteville, Michael Hallisey of Greensboro, Kelly Grice and husband Richard of Fayetteville; 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and her beloved Yorkie, Molly.

Bette will be laid to rest with a private service to be held at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.
