Doris Junker McCormick, 76, died October 27, 2011, with her family by her side in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Doris was born October 21, 1935, in Heilbronn-Sontheim, Germany, to Willi Friedrich and Sophie (Gehrer) Junker. She moved to the United States upon her marriage to Clarence McCormick in 1956. As a military wife, she travelled the world before the family retired to Fayetteville in 1980.
A homemaker, Doris devoted her life to caring for her beloved husband and children. She enjoyed collectibles, gardening and needlework, especially crocheting, and her craftsmanship was admired by all who knew her. She touched many lives with her warmth and generosity.
Doris is survived by her husband; son Mike and daughter-in-law Robin of Bradenton, Fl.; son Charlie and daughter-in-law Mary of Fayetteville; son Stevie of Fayetteville; daughter Carol and son-in-law Rick Pace of Evansville, Ind.; sisters Maryanne Lang, Friedl Cohan, Emmi Wieland, Erika Earley, Ruth Tullar and Rosemarie Schwartzkoph; and brothers Siegfried and Dieter Junker; and 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Inge Schwartz and brothers Heintz and Willi Junker Jr.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday November 1, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Sullivan's Highland Funeral Service & Crematory in Fayetteville with Rev. Archie Barringer officiating. Burial will follow in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery on Murchison Road. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 1st, 2011 from 12 to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice.
