Mrs. Doris M. Faircloth, 88, of Fayetteville, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born Doris Maria Whitaker on Sept. 2, 1924, in Burlington, to John Thomas and Myrtle Denson Whitaker. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star since 1954. After living in several locations for 22 years as a military wife, Doris and her family settled in Fayetteville, where for the past 47 years she continued to enjoy her role as a loving house wife and mother. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Wade (Faircloth) Sr.; and son, David Edward (Faircloth). Survivors include son, Wade Jr. and wife Debi of West End; son, N. Thomas and wife Mary of Fayetteville; grandson, John David and wife April of Franklin, Va.; grandson, Wade III and wife Lynn of Grantsboro; and a great-grandson, Wade IV. A graveside service will be conducted by Pastor Joshua J. Hair Jr. on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at 11 a.m. in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of one's choice Services entrusted to Sullivan's Highland Funeral Service & Crematory of Fayetteville.
