David Burdette Crane

David Burdette Crane, 93, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 8, 2023.

He was born in Provo, UT, on December 21, 1929, to the late C.B. and Marie Crane.  Also preceding him in death was his wife of 65 years, Evelyn; his grandson, Benjamin Fortenberry; brother, Charles Crane and wife Deanna; and brother-in-law, Roger Esplin. 

He was an Air Force Veteran who traveled the world and served during the Korean War.  Following his retirement, he was a long time teacher in the Cumberland County School System.  He pioneered the Principles of Technology program for the state of North Carolina. He was a devoted Boy Scout Leader for over 50 years, serving youth in the Occoneechee Council, at the Troop thru Council level.  He was a member and teacher of numerous Sunday School programs in all of the churches he attended.

Left to cherish David’s memory are his daughter, Paula Thomson and husband Jeff of Fayetteville; sons, Mark Crane and wife Linda of Clayton, Michael Crane and wife Sue of Durham; grandchildren, Patricia Crane and husband Manrique Cisneros of Raleigh, James Crane of Clayton, Jonathan Feldhauser and wife Paige of White Oak, TX, Elsa Crane and wife Meghan of Sammamish, WA; three great grandchildren; sister, Katherine Esplin of Flagstaff, AZ; and his brothers, Bill Crane and wife Georgia of Syracuse, UT, Richard Crane and wife Ivy of Hunter, UT; and a large extended family.

A visitation is scheduled from 3 to 4pm on Saturday, February 11, 2023, in the fellowship hall at Highland Presbyterian Church.

David will be missed dearly by his family and friends, all over the world.
