Christine Matthews Shaw went to her heavenly home Saturday, January 21, 2012.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Webb; her husband of 53 years, Jim Shaw; and her sisters, Bessie Young, Nellie Matthews, and Eunice Leonard. She is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Richling and son in law, Bob; sister, Elizabeth McIntosh; Brother, John Matthews, Jr.; 4 grandsons, Robert, Patrick, Brian and Matthew; 1 great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Central High School and attended Worth Business College. She and her husband Jim owned and operated the Bonnie Shop on Bragg Boulevard and Shaw Sundries on Ramsey Street. For many years after the shops closed, Christine continued to operate the Bonnie Doone post office.
She was an active and respected member of MacPherson Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. Christine devoted her life to feeding and taking care of her family and friends. She was known for her love of cooking and she nurtured and comforted the people in her life with love and food from the kitchen, where she was happiest.
Memorials may be made to the Machperson Presbyterian Church Building Fund at 3525 Cliffdale Road, Fayetteville, NC 28303.
