Cameron Herndon Easton, Jr., 90, of Fayetteville, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024.
Cam was born in Granville County, NC, on February 25, 1934, to the late Francis and Cameron H. Easton, Sr. Also preceding him in death was his wife of 59 years, Janet, and son, Cameron H. “Tripp” Easton, III; siblings, Charles Easton and Charlotte Baker.
In college he met his love, Janet. He married her in 1959. During his career he served as the Tax Collector/Tax Appraiser for Gaston, Forsythe, and Cumberland Counties. After his time in the Tax Office, he opened a Real Estate Appraisal business in Fayetteville.
He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, canoeing, and snow skiing in his younger years. In retirement he found fulfillment in woodcarving and wood turning. As an artist, he enjoyed mentoring soldiers and aiding them with their recovery by introducing them to wood working through the Wounded Warrior Project.
Cam leaves behind his daughter Charlotte Murray; grandchildren, John Cameron Murray and Michael Murray; sister-in-law, Virginia Waller; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will conduct a private service.
