Bertha G. Godwin

Bertha G. Godwin, 96, of Fayetteville, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at her home.

She was born on May 10, 1922, to the late James and Cora Godwin.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Godwin.

Bertha attended Northwood Temple.  She enjoyed music, especially spiritual singing with her gospel trio.  She was a beloved mother who will be missed deeply.  “Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”  Hebrews 13:2. She was an angel of which we were aware.

Bertha is survived by her children, Clara Baker of Conyers, GA, Ann Weber of Fayetteville, Faye (Godwin) Phipps of Orange County, CA, Jimmy Godwin (Sue) of Coral Springs, FL; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; sister, Grace Barefoot; and an extended family.

The family will receive friends from 9:45am to 10:45am on Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service.  The funeral service, will follow at 11am and will conclude with a burial at Lafayette Memorial Park, with Rev. Dr. John Hedgepeth officiating.
