Adam Keith Gunkel

Adam Keith Gunkel, 29, of Fayetteville, NC, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021.

He was born on July 2, 1991, in Cumberland County, NC.

He was a graduate of Cape Fear High School.  After high school, he served in the U.S. Army until he was honorably discharged due to a head injury.  When he was not working as a carpenter with his dad, he was doing all things that he loved.  Adam loved traveling, making people laugh, going to the beach, and especially spending time with his son Ryder. But his passion was skateboarding.  All throughout his youth up until now, he could be found at Daville Skate Shop.

Adam is survived by his parents Cathy and Keith Tanner; one son Ryder Gunkel; sister Kaylee Tanner and Fiancé Taylon Hope; grandparents Harold and Martha Gunkel, Linda Corbitt and husband Al Corbitt, and Robert Tanner; one aunt Linda Fann; great-grandmother Lillie Catherine Hurst; cousins Raevyn Tanner, Blake Thornton and Zackery Johnson; including his extended family and friends. 

The family will receive friends from 11:45 AM until 12:45 PM at Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service on Wednesday, April 28, 2021.  A memorial service will follow at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions to his son Ryders’ College Fund.  Checks can be payable to the family to be deposited into his trust account at Fort Bragg Federal Credit Union.
